Overview

As part of a TikTok Shop content design exam, I developed and refined seven key user interface content pieces focused on critical seller and consumer touchpoints within the platform. This involved rewriting and redesigning error messages, confirmation screens, coupon interstitials, policy violation alerts, and extension request panels to improve clarity, usability, and localization readiness.

The Problem

The existing content was often wordy, inconsistent in tone, ambiguous in date formats, and sometimes overly informal or vague. Sellers and consumers needed clearer, concise, and actionable messaging that aligned with TikTok’s brand voice and global user base. Additionally, the content had to support seamless translation and comply with legal requirements across diverse markets.

The Solution

I applied content design principles aimed at enhancing clarity, scannability, and emotional tone appropriate to each scenario. For example, I simplified headers and CTAs (“Extension approved,” “Go back,” “Confirm shipping options”) and reformatted dates to reduce international ambiguity. I also recommended cross-functional collaboration points with product managers, UX designers, engineers, and localization specialists to ensure copy effectiveness, technical feasibility, and cultural alignment. This interdisciplinary approach ensured the rewritten content met user needs and business goals while enabling efficient iterative design.

The Outcome

The revised content improved user comprehension and actionability, reduced confusion, and aligned messaging with TikTok’s dynamic e-commerce environment. These redesigns set a foundation for consistent, localized communication across the platform, enhancing both seller confidence and consumer experience.
